Congés Payés in France

French workers are entitled to a minimum of 5 weeks (25 working days) of paid annual leave. This is among the most generous statutory minimums in the world.

How Leave Accrues

Leave accrues at 2.5 working days per month worked, totaling 30 days (5 weeks) per reference year. The reference period runs from June 1 to May 31.

RTT (Réduction du Temps de Travail)

Many French workers also receive RTT days—additional days off that compensate for working more than 35 hours per week. This can add 10-20 extra days off.

Taking Your Leave

The main vacation period in France is May 1 to October 31. At least 12 consecutive days must be taken during this period. Remaining leave can be taken throughout the year.
