US Paycheck Calculator – Estimate Your Take-Home Pay
Calculate your estimated take-home pay with our free paycheck calculator. Get accurate estimates of federal taxes, state taxes, FICA (Social Security and Medicare), and deductions for any US state.
How the Paycheck Calculator Works
Our paycheck calculator estimates your take-home pay by calculating federal income tax, state income tax (where applicable), and FICA taxes (Social Security and Medicare). Here's how it works:
- Gross Pay: Enter your gross pay amount and pay frequency (weekly, bi-weekly, monthly, etc.)
- Pre-Tax Deductions: Enter any pre-tax deductions like 401(k) contributions, health insurance, or HSA contributions
- Taxable Income: The calculator subtracts pre-tax deductions from gross pay to determine taxable income
- Federal Tax: Calculated using 2024 federal tax brackets based on your filing status and standard deduction
- State Tax: Calculated based on your selected state's approximate income tax rate
- FICA Taxes: Social Security (6.2% up to $168,600) and Medicare (1.45%, plus 0.9% additional for high earners)
- Post-Tax Deductions: Any post-tax deductions are subtracted after taxes are calculated
- Net Pay: Your take-home pay after all taxes and deductions
Important: This calculator provides estimates only. Actual take-home pay may vary based on your specific circumstances, local taxes, employer policies, and other factors. This is not tax, legal, or financial advice.
