How to Convert Salary to Hourly Rate
The Formula
To convert your annual salary to an hourly rate, use this formula:
Hourly Rate = Annual Salary ÷ (Weekly Hours × Weeks Per Year)
Example Calculation
If you earn $75,000 per year and work 40 hours per week for 52 weeks:
- Total hours per year: 40 × 52 = 2,080 hours
- Hourly rate: $75,000 ÷ 2,080 = $36.06 per hour
- Daily rate: $36.06 × 8 = $288.48 per day
- Weekly pay: $36.06 × 40 = $1,442.31 per week
- Monthly pay: $75,000 ÷ 12 = $6,250.00 per month
