Annual Leave in Sweden
Swedish workers are entitled to 25 days of paid annual leave per year under the Annual Leave Act (Semesterlagen). This is among the most generous statutory minimums globally.
Main Vacation Period
Employees have the right to take 4 consecutive weeks of vacation during the summer period (June-August). This reflects Sweden's emphasis on substantial summer holidays.
Vacation Pay (Semesterlön)
You receive your normal salary plus holiday pay supplement (semestertillägg) of 0.43% per vacation day, totaling approximately 12% extra during your vacation period.
Saving Vacation Days
You can save up to 5 vacation days per year (those exceeding 20 days) to take in future years, up to a maximum of 25 saved days.
