Spain Vacation Pay Guide

Understand how vacation pay works in Spain, including regular holiday pay, extra pays (pagas extras), and what you're entitled to upon leaving a job.

Vacation Pay in Spain

Spanish workers receive their regular salary during vacation. Additionally, many workers receive "paga extra de vacaciones" (vacation bonus) based on collective agreements.

Extra Pays (Pagas Extras)

Spanish workers typically receive 14 monthly payments: 12 regular payments plus 2 extra pays (usually in summer and December). These may be prorated throughout the year.

Calculating Vacation Pay

Vacation pay should reflect your normal earnings, including fixed bonuses and regular commissions. Variable pay may be calculated as an average.

Payment on Termination

When leaving a job, you're entitled to payment for accrued vacation (vacaciones devengadas) and proportional extra pays (parte proporcional de pagas extras).
