Personal/Carer's Leave Entitlement
Under the NES, full-time employees receive 10 days of paid personal/carer's leave per year. Part-time employees receive a pro-rata amount based on hours worked.
What It Can Be Used For
Personal leave covers: your own illness or injury, caring for an immediate family member or household member who is sick, or unexpected emergencies affecting family members.
Accumulation
Unlike annual leave, personal leave accumulates and carries over from year to year without limit. However, it is not paid out upon termination of employment.
Evidence Requirements
Your employer may require evidence for personal leave, such as a medical certificate or statutory declaration. This is more common for absences over 2 days or if there's a pattern.
